FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a sound absorption test cost?
€590 per measurement including mounting and the test report. Several measurements cost less per measurement.
Which standard applies?
ISO 354 in the reverberation room, rated to ISO 11654 (αw and absorber class). Single objects are rated to ISO 20189.
How large does the sample have to be?
Flat absorbers: approx. 11 m² as one contiguous rectangular area. Single objects: usually three identical units.
What does the test report contain?
Sound absorption coefficient αs per third-octave band from 100 to 5000 Hz, αp per octave, weighted sound absorption coefficient αw and absorber class A to E. For single objects it states the equivalent absorption area per object to ISO 20189.
Who performs the measurement?
An accredited, VMPA-recognised acoustics laboratory in Germany with its own reverberation room of approx. 400 m³ and more than 1,300 measurements completed. Acoustic Index coordinates the request, date and shipping.
Can I send samples from abroad?
Yes, from anywhere in Europe. The shipping address comes with the reply to your request.
Do I have to list my product on Acoustic Index?
No. The test report is yours. On request we list the product directly with the measurement data.
