BVS Akustik GmbH & Co. KG from Verl (East Westphalia) has been active in the furniture industry since 1990 and produces custom acoustic panels with CNC saws, purpose-built drilling lines and an in-house laser system. Almost all board materials are processed: solid wood, veneered, composite and decor boards, each cut, edge-finished and lacquered to the customer's specification. The range covers drilled (AKUSTIbohr), micro-perforated (AKUSTIpur), slotted (AKUSTIpan) and sound-absorbing partition elements (AKUSTItrenn), each in numerous hole patterns and build-up depths. The elements are available in fire classes B1 and B2 and, for sports halls, with certified ball-impact resistance. References include Princeton University, NYU and the Emser Therme.

Description
AKUSTIpur is a multi-purpose acoustic panel from BVS, micro-perforated on both sides, for furniture and interior fit-out. The MDF carrier board is available veneered, with a primer foil or with a melamine-resin coating and carries a fine micro-perforation with hole diameters from 1 mm as standard up to 2.5 mm and grids from 4 to 8 mm, either over the full surface or with unperforated edge margins. A fleece core integrated into the panel and the symmetrical, warp-free build-up make the panel acoustically effective on both sides and allow direct further processing without an additional fixing frame. It stays stable when dowelled, grooved, screwed and when fittings are attached, allows cuts and cut-outs on site and can be lacquered. AKUSTIpur is available as the large-format AKUSTIpur Standard panel with dimensions up to 3010 mm in length and 1300 mm in width, and as AKUSTIpur Fix, cut to size with an unperforated edge. Acoustically, the panel works through the interplay of micro-perforation, fleece core and the depth of the build-up behind it. The hole grid and the distance to the surface behind determine in which frequency range the panel takes up sound. Sound absorption is determined in the reverberation room per EN ISO 354 and rated per EN ISO 11654. For design work the full third-octave curve matters alongside the weighted single-number rating, because performance differs across the frequency bands depending on hole pattern and build-up depth.
