BVS Akustik

BVS Akustik GmbH & Co. KG from Verl (East Westphalia) has been active in the furniture industry since 1990 and produces custom acoustic panels with CNC saws, purpose-built drilling lines and an in-house laser system. Almost all board materials are processed: solid wood, veneered, composite and decor boards, each cut, edge-finished and lacquered to the customer's specification. The range covers drilled (AKUSTIbohr), micro-perforated (AKUSTIpur), slotted (AKUSTIpan) and sound-absorbing partition elements (AKUSTItrenn), each in numerous hole patterns and build-up depths. The elements are available in fire classes B1 and B2 and, for sports halls, with certified ball-impact resistance. References include Princeton University, NYU and the Emser Therme.

Description

AKUSTIpan is the slotted acoustic panel from BVS: a panel milled on the back whose face carries a fine slotting, produced in fine solid woods, melamine-resin coated surfaces and in RAL and NCS colours. The panels are 2050 to 4080 mm long and 128, 160 or 192 mm wide and are slotted on a 16 mm or 32 mm grid, with an irregular slotting that minimises the moiré effect. The acoustic behaviour can be adjusted at no extra cost through the spacing and width of the slots, and the back can optionally be fitted with acoustic fleece. The VB version shows a continuous line pattern with concealed slotting, and tongue-and-groove installation produces a seamless, continuous look. Cuts, cut-outs and beam integrations are possible on site, and the material is low-emission to NAF. Acoustically, the panel only works through the interplay of the slotting with the build-up behind it, made up of optional acoustic fleece and a cavity, which converts incident sound energy into heat within a defined frequency range. The absorption coefficient is determined in the reverberation room per EN ISO 354 and rated per EN ISO 11654; for design work the full third-octave curve matters alongside the single-number rating, not the individual figure on its own.
